Birds of the Broadwater
I joined a group of friends for an early morning bird watching boat ride to the southern part of Gold Coast Broadwater. The guide wanted to show us the Eastern Curlews. We saw one or two from afar because of bad weather with strong cold wind and rain. We spotted pelicans, ospreys and other species etc. I am unsure what bird that I captured in the picture.
The Boardwater is where the home for birds where they feed on tidal flats, roost on the high-water sandbars. South of the Wavebreak Island is referred as “Curlew Island” - known as a bird life ‘hot spot’. The only location which stands above all high tides. Eastern Curlew is, world’s largest wader, the signature bird of “Curlew Island”.
