Finding My Bearings

Open Evening!

Long day as I had five lessons, meetings before and after school and duties during my breaks… then we had Open Evening, where parents and their primary school children come along to have a look at the school, meet the staff, and decide if they’d like to come there. I think the deadline for applications is the end of this month.

I was in charge of a chemical reaction thingy, where you have to try and make the longest jelly ‘worm’. No-one beat the one my fellow Science teacher made and second place went to a dad, neither of which probably should have counted, LOL! Unlike any other school I’ve worked in, we had literally two hundred of our current students guiding tours, giving talks and helping with the activities. They did an amazing job and, if I was a visiting parent, I’m sure I’d have been very impressed.

The activity I liked the most, though, was looking at the tardigrades that live in the moss outside our building.
