Can't Believe It's Not...
Drove up to Dole, a much larger town, today, & managed to get a shaded pitch - beneficial in this warm weather - on the campsite. By this evening the campsite seemed full, presumably because there's a marathon here tomorrow. Not everyone on the site looks as if they could be competing, but the event has taken over the large parking area near the river, displacing all the motorhomes which would have used it as a stopover. Dole was always on our "maybe visit" list - we decided to use the campsite last evening, then noticed the event on the tourist office website this morning.
Went for a walk around the town late this afternoon, after it had cooled a little. There's plenty to interest, from the River Doubs & canal near the campsite to buildings & gardens in the town - plus the mural featured in the Blip. It really is a painting, the windows, doors & balcony don't exist, though it's difficult to believe. The figures are portraits of some influential citizens from the past &, as the tourist website says, the fresco, unveiled in 2017, *was created by Camille Semelet, Alain Locatelli, Sylvie Casartelli and Anaïs Mazuez, muralist artists from the Haut les Murs collective."
The extra is just something else that caught my eye...
