Flight back home

We had a pleasant surprise this morning.

We expected to get up for a 10:55am flight  out of Heathrow to Detroit with a four hour layover in Detroit then to Boston, arriving at 10:30 pm. We needed to leave Paddington station at about 8am.

When we woke up, we had emails notifying us that the aircraft we were scheduled to be on was damaged at the previous airport so we were rebooked on a direct flight to Boston arriving 3 hours early and given 15,000 miles each as an apology for the “inconvenience”. I was happy with the changed itinerary, although I sympathize the passengers who have a more complicated trip for missing the Detroit flight.

We walked around Kensington Gardens before folding ourselves into the 7 hour flight.

I was served these salt and pepper shakers with the meal. They’re really cute. I said to the flight attendant that they probably see some go missing. She laughed in agreement and admitted that she had collected every color and have them on display on a shelf in her kitchen. I asked, “every color?”  She said each aircraft has its own designated color.

I thought a photo would be much better than bringing them home. I have so much junk at home I’m trying to get rid of - I don’t need to add to it.
