Walk and talk

Breakfast, chat and watching a space documentary together before Mt took AR to the BFI film festival to see an animated Chinese film about under the sea. I took Mx and Higgs the dog for a walk to the park. We were out for an hour (he wanted to come a different route home and so we ended up exploring a new area) and I think he talked non stop the whole time. Told me about school (he’s friends with everyone, there aren’t any bullies, he likes MyMaths best and he’s never been put on amber warning let alone been sent to the headteacher. Being in Year 1 is good, because they get to play in the Yr 1 playground “AKA the big blue playground”!!), how to do tricks on his scooter, what to do with acorns and why there are cracks in the path. He’s hilarious…
Home and after a coffee I nipped up to Asda for a few things (frustrating customer experience!) then we had lunch before Mt&AR home, so I could take Mx&AR to see P. We took him a birthday cake ahead of his 95th birthday on Tuesday and Mx showed him how he’s filled in a lot of his stamps in the stamp album P gave him.
Drove them back and met Mt and G&N at a local pub to catch up with each other and hear the family news and OU gossip such as there is. N’s mum seems in a worse state than P so we had a lot of comparing notes to do! Stayed in the garden of the pub til it got dark, then home to sort out the last pile of papers from P’s. Mostly old newspaper clippings or his handwritten copies of news and tweets(!) from many years, but we did find lots of old letters and family photos so were pleased we rescued those.
