Fire and Rescue Exercise - help!

My journey to Island Hill, just a few miles from home, I discovered a rescue exercise underway.  The scenario is that I man, on the right hand side, is stuck fast in quick sand and the tide is rapidly coming in, so how to get him out?
Mind you they all seemed to be having a good time.  Should this be in colour?  Well as a reportage type image I stuck with black and white!  I think I prefer the extra photo!!
