Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Blip

Claudet
Claudet looked at the withered poinsettias and wondered why her mother gave her one every Christmas, every damned Christmas without fail. Her mother knew that it was a pointless gift, and that, in Claudet's possession, it would, inevitably, die shortly thereafter. She got up to turn on the radio, and, seeing a layer of dust, the thought suddenly struck her 'when the hell did I last take a duster to this place?'. She knew that some music would help with the task of setting up her new laptop. This was not an easy process due to the fact that she had decided to switch to a Mac, which was totally unfamiliar. As she sat back down she noticed the business card the guy, Duncan, in the pub had given her a couple of nights back. She was still in a quandary as to whether or not to contact him. He had seemed keen on her, but there was something about him that didn't sit quite right. Polly had taken an instant dislike to him, and had told Claudet to ‘steer well clear’ - but that was Polly, always cautious. She picked up her phone and was about to text him when a thought crossed her mind, she rang Polly instead, she answered almost immediately
"Hi Poll, want to pick your brains"
"Ha! That won't take long then - fire away."
"That Duncan bloke, wasn't he the one in that recent kerb-crawling case who got off on a technicality?"
"Yeah, you're bloody right, I knew there was something I didn't like about him!"
"I was just about to text him when it suddenly came to me."
"Bloody hell, lucky escape there then girl. You still on for tonight?"
"Yeah, should be a great night see you later."
Claudet returned to the task of setting up her laptop. Funnily enough the task seemed easier now. She put that down to her subconscious worrying away at the Duncan thing and that talking to Polly had cleared it.
