Barley crop

Some of the barley was knocked down in recent rain, but the header will be able to go low and harvest the grain. It is beginning to ripen, more quickly on the side of the paddock away from the shade of trees along the river.

The men are mowing vetch at West Wyalong. This evening Andrew is on a dash to Parkes with a spare part for one of the machines. I assume Anton will meet him there as it is half way to West Wyalong.

Ross said fluff from the vetch was getting on to the hot parts of the windrower and smouldering. He was tired of “putting fires out”.
