Story behind the tattoo

This afternoon I dropped some stuff off at my favourite charity shop in Bridge of Allan and I could not help but notice the tattoo on the arm of Sonia, the manager.
 
They were not ordinary tattoos, but intricate, beautiful, thoughtful designs. Each one represented a poignant, and powerful moment of time in her life.  Some were to celebrate the life of close loved family members and another of her best friend who died suddenly at 39 years of age from a brain haemorrhage leaving behind a three-year-old child.
 
It got me thinking. There must be many stories behind tattoos.
