Learning To Love Sport

My Dear Princess and Dear Fellow,

I had a lovely chat with the Princess last night. After a series of debacles, we finally caught up again and it was so lovely to hear her voice.

We did not talk about sport because we never talk about sport. I do not think either of us are interested in sport. And yet here I am in a sport-obsessed country.

Briar LOVES sport. She is wearing her All-Blacks top for the entirety of the Rugby World Cup. She also loves cricket and Formula One and netball. She's actually a netball umpire and has to tell people to EFF OFF regularly.

"That's Sassy Briar," she explains.

Briar is also a keen baker, and made a spectacular Rugby World Cup cake. And despite my lack of interest she invited me to her Rugby World Cup Morning Tea today.

I've talked about Morning Teas before. Kiwis in offices get very excited about them. Despite being English I typically don't bother but Briar persuaded me, even though there was a strong sports element to this one.

Her Rugby World Cup Cake turned out to be amazing and spectacular but more importantly DELICIOUS. I promised that they can teach me about rugby and I promised to sport the "AB's".

I don't know if they believed me. And I'm not entirely sure I believed myself. But my intentions were good. Nearly as good as the cake.

S.
