2023 Monday — LA Traffic

This is our view of the 10 Freeway headed East from Los Angeles to the Inland Empire at 4:10 p.m. as we passed over it on the transition ramp from the 57 Freeway to Highway 71. This is definitely not California’s Central Coast.

But before anyone starts smacking on California traffic, I’ve seen traffic like this in many locations— Phoenix, Dallas, Seattle, Chicago, Portland, and Boston to name a few places.

It wasn’t an ideal time to be on the road, but when Mr. Fun explained to me this morning that he was dealing with some physical issues, my immediate response was “let’s get packed and outta here.”

Mr. Fun is a prostate cancer survivor. All our medical resources are in Southern California, which is roughly a 4-hour drive from our retirement house on California’s Central Coast. This is the first time we’ve had to head south for immediate medical attention.

Our unplanned journey took 5 hours, rather than the usual 4 hours. We left our coast home at 11:30 a.m. which is not the optimal time to be on the highway. Normally we leave at 6:00 a.m. to get thru LA before lunchtime.
