Bathroom
Everybody’s house has some ‘one day’ jobs. Things that you think you will get to one day but, often, never do. I wonder if the dripping tap in the bathroom was one of things that the previous owner thought they would get around to? Clearly, they considered painting plain white tiles a thing to do and this picture shows the mosaic that was created. This is the nicer corner; there is a corner of the shower where the paint has come away and it looks a untidy. I am not sure how we will tackle this but I think we will have to.
We spent our first night here. I think I slept quite well as I was quite tired from the amount of work that had been done yesterday and the sheer adrenalin of getting in. On the other hand, I was also painfully aware of every strange noise from within the flat and around the area. I am not used to living in a space where there are neighbours upstairs and you can hear them move. We have lived in terraces for many years and are accustomed to the occasional noises from the side but the last flat we lived in - which was 23 years go - was a top floor flat so we were probably the heavy-footed upstairs neighbours. I will get used to it but, last night and today, it’s all very strange.
This was a flying visit as we needed to pick up they keys, do some measuring and make sure everything was OK. We will be back next weekend to do more furniture moving and start thinking about the work we want to do. PY is already looking at the websites for sofas.
It was lovely to be able to walk along the seafront this morning back into Ryde. Although we are only stopping off at Subway for a breakfast that we could take with us on the ferry and train we got to see the sea - which is one of the main reasons for the investment. We actually had a bit of time in Gunwharf Quays between the ferry and the train - and so we grabbed coffee - before taking our train to Woking.
We were meeting PY’s family for lunch. It’s Jo’s birthday tomorrow and we all had a lovely Sunday lunch at Cote in Woking. We haven’t really talked about the flat and decided to keep it that way so as not to take over the conversation. It was fantastic meal with very attentive service. Back for tea at Christine and David’s flat and home, exhausted, by 7pm.
