2023 Saturday — Two Stories
Watching the sun as it sets is one of the most spectacular moments each day. I was sure I had missed it today. When Mr. Fun & I arrived home from Ragged Point and Cambria this little house was still warm enough to be delightful on a winter’s night, but entirely too hot for our October evening. So we took our beach chairs to the lawn on the south side, the cool side, of our house. It was delightful there until I realized I had, I thought, missed sunset.
When I came inside at 6:40 — surprise, surprise — the sun was just laying there on the horizon’s edge like a raw egg with the yolk getting flatter. Quite a sight! Then it was gone, and God painted the clouds.
I am overwhelmed with all I have seen today. I could have walked thru a dozen art galleries and been joyed, but God’s “wide world of nature gallery” has overjoyed. I hope you know God; He is a good, good God. The second story is in the post script.
From California’s Central Coast,
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
Chloe & Mitzi too!
P.S. Our goal this Saturday was to exit a house that was warming to uncomfortable in the October sun; to find cool if it could be found when every where was so hot. We wandered the Central Coast in a northerly direction until Mr. Fun & I found ourselves at Ragged Point — the entrance to the Big Sur geography.
We were hoping for a late lunch that would also substitute as an early dinner. What we got was a story of two people becoming one (a miracle, if you get my gist), and of their family, and of a crowd of their friends, well-wishers who love them.
A Jewish wedding on a day when Israel, their homeland, has been attacked. Our meal arrived before the bride floated down the aisle, and cake was set in front of us before the bride walked the aisle the other direction as a Mrs with her Mister.
I stood to capture the “Here comes the Bride” moment and my eyes flooded with tears and I felt like I was turning to jello. I was watching a miracle happen . . . two becoming one. Jesus did His first public miracle at a wedding . . . He turned water to wine. No wonder weddings take my breath away.
