At Last!

It's been a long year.
I documented the first meeting of the YES campaign in February, and here we are, nine months later.
Referendums are unusual, the last one being in 1999, when we voted against becoming a republic.
This refererendum, to include an indigenous voice to parliament  in the constitution, has been hugely controversial, and if the polls are to be believed will not get up.

We have compulsory voting in Australia, in all levels of government, and in times past election days have been quite jolly events, with communities coming together in local halls to participate in the democratic process, often enjoying a sausage sizzle and purchasing cakes and preserves from various stalls.
For some reason, many people now take advantage of the opportunity to vote early, and over 2.2 million have already cast their vote.
The attitude seems to be that they want to 'get it over', which I don't understand.
Anyway, this was the scene outside the local polling booth in Blackheath.
