Berberis thunbergii

I like to know about plants

I usually know my plants.

However this weekend I mistook a Pieris "forest flame" for a Berberis on someone's blip. It looked so like the shots I had taken of this Berberis earlier in March and I just thought, living up in cold Scotland his plants were just a bit slower!

So, I thought I had better get myself off down the garden to check the shrub out and make sure I got to know it a bit better. I've only had it 31 years, over half my lifetime, so it's still possible to make mistakes!
