Cardington hangars
Cardington is a small town to the south-east of Bedford and is famously home to these two, once magnificent, airship hangars.
The hangers were built in the early 1900's, No.1 shed on the left was built around 1916 with No.2 shed joining it later in 1928. Shed 2 was originally located at RNAS Pulham, Norfolk and was dismantled & re-erected at Cardington.
In recent years the shed No.2 has been used by the BRE and is thus in much better condition than shed No.1, however it would appear that shed No.1 is currently undergoing some restoration work.
