No Longer My Coo Ca Choo
I saw this very disconsolate looking pigeon sitting atop our garden fence when I was hanging out the washing this morning. It is usually accompanied but its partner but on this occasion it was looking pretty bereft that its other half was not in attendance. Normally as soon as you approach them they fly off instantly but as I got near enough to get a shot it didn't even flinch - it almost seemed like it was lost in thought.
The coo is the calling which is particularly used when these birds are trying to attract a mate or defend their territory and, if this is the case, they often strut, bow or fan their tails at the same time. None of which was emanating from this poor soul.
I was trying to think of a title for today's image when a track by a 70's singer on the glam rock scene, Alvin Stardust, popped into my head (as it does!) so I did a spot of paraphrasing to make it suited what felt like a sense of abandonment by its paramour!
