Landslide, Wolf Creek, CA

Today was a frustrating day for bird photography. Nothing wanted to hop in front of my lens. This old landslide was the only thing I could find that held still long enough to take a picture of it.

This is the hillside above Wolf Creek, on the east slope of the Sierra Nevada range. It is one of two sites we sample located behind the Marine Corp Mountain Warfare Training Center. Normally Wolf Creek is a great place to see birds, but it was a bit too windy this morning. This not only kept the birds down in the brush and out of site, but it also covered up the sound of their songs, making it a somewhat difficult day for counting.
