We met up with Tim’s daughter, Minnie, Tim’s son and his partner for lunch and to give Tilly back. We had a tasty meal and then Tim’s son took Minnie for her first adventure in a skate park.
Tim’s son is an old hand at scooters, skateboards and most things on wheels. Minnie is three years old. I was doubtful but it turned out to be an excellent experience! S was very careful with Minnie and Minnie showed a lot more proficiency on her little scooter than I have seen before. I think a family tradition will continue.
Later on I came across a few different demonstrations about Gaza. I think it all started in Trafalgar Square, some headed down Whitehall and some continued their peaceful protest at the gates of Downing Street.
I don’t know about the Israeli/ Palestinian situation in any detail, but I do know that in any conflict, the majority of those killed and injured are innocent civilians.
It seemed apt to come across the statue for Edith Cavell, (see extra) a nurse who helped injured soldiers on both sides in the First World War. She is reported to have said the night before she was executed, “Patriotism is not enough. I must have no hatred or bitterness for anyone.”
