Happy birthday Walt Disney

Our local library has many handmade tableaux celebrating a theme of “Books and Film”.

This set up caught my eye and is presented today with permission of the maker.

It reprises the 1964 film Mary Poppins, and the little figures feature the eponymous Mary Poppins and her ubiquitous umbrella, a chimney sweep, and other little references such a kites.

There was a follow up film, Saving Mr Banks, a biographical drama film describing the clash between Walt Disney and the original author of Mary Poppins, namely PL Travers, in the making of the original film.

Today, 16 October marks the anniversary of the foundation of the Walt Disney empire 100 years ago.
