The Entertainers

Woke up around 3:30 am. Not sure why. Earlier this week, it was due to coyotes ‘barking’. Did not hear any last night. Finally read from 4:30 until 6. Then slept until 8:00. Hubby’s carpal tunnel was acting up so he went downstairs at 4:00. When I got up, my first task of the day was to check out the wild life. They are such great entertainers. Deer were eating fallen apples and enjoying the grass where my sister plants gourds. The trees and feeders are filled with so many types of birds. Looking at a migration map, we are a small part of the Atlantic migratory flyway. We have beautiful pampas grass outside our bedroom window. Birds love it. They cover the long fronds and pick at them for hours. We think the smaller birds are chipping sparrows but we aren’t positive. I was surprised that even bluebirds consider it a feast. Other bluebirds enjoyed the worms my sister provided. Out front, we saw titmice, blue jays, chickadees, wrens, mourning doves, nuthatches, a flicker, woodpeckers and various sparrows. Most were too quick for a photo. Some others were too high in the trees to even identify. My DIL took the photo of Parker and Mancil dressed in their “tacky tourists” attire which is the day three theme for Homecoming week. I had to include it in my collage. They are having so much fun this week. Hubby and our BIL went to town to visit friends and shop. Other friends unexpectedly stopped here to visit since they were in area. We were preparing potato salad for dinner and cleaning the kitchen. Our plan had been to can more apples but it was too late to start such a big project after the visit. We ate a late lunch. Our BIL will smoke the ribs and we’ll make a green vegetable. Easy dinner. We got word that another of my children’s great aunts passed. Our family has sure gotten smaller this year. News from the Middle East Is so devastating. Stay safe blip friends. We hear there is unrest in several countries. Thanks for dropping by. “Being an entertainer, especially in times like these, is really a public service.” -
