Halloween early...
Backblip
Final decorations up! I finished crocheting the pumpkin bunting at 1am! My friend Gail who gave me the crochet kit is coming to the party so I was determined to have the bunting done :-)
Ele, Jen, Nikki, Esme and Nikki's mum arrived just before 2pm. The girls were very happy to meet up again. They really so have such a special long distance friendship :-))
Soon all were changed into their swimming costumes and into the pool they went. Those of us not in the pool enjoyed the little oasis of calm before the coming party storm!
Out the pool and into party outfits. Anna the Vampire, Faith the Cheetah and Esme the witch. And me, the grumpy old witch, typecast again!
Started off with Ele painting their nails. Poor L (Anna and Faith's dad) didn't escape and had to have his nails painted too! Then the games began....throw the slimy spider on the web, witches hat hoopla, pin the wart on the witch. Then it was buffet time. We were all ready to eat by this point! Of course the girls had their eye on the sweet stuff and fuelled up with sugar, it was time for party games part 2!
Eat the doughnut from the string (more sugar!) musical statues, and the grand finale....the Pumpkin Piñata!
We hung the Piñata from the landing banister and the girls attacked it with a witch broom. It had no effect. We moved from that to a rolling pin and a meat mallet (I have a photo of Nikki standing in the hall with the rolling pin in one hand and the meat mallet raised in her other hand, looking like a deranged serial killer! :-)) Jen eventually ripped the Piñata to give the girls a chance, then took over hitting it herself and soon the sweets were raining from it and the girls were squealing with delight as they scrambled round the floor scooping up the sweets.
Finally time for the girls to get their PJs on and settle down to watch Hocus Pocus. Esme had to leave before the end so it was fond farewells all round and cries of see you at Easter!
If the success of the party is based on how exhausted the adults are, then it was very successful indeed! :-)
(PS Meanwhile Alan is still having a fantastic time on holiday :-))
