Tall trees

It doesn't show, but those trees are about 20m high. The main purpose of the forest here is, like most forests, to harvest wood. And to shoot deer and wild boars.
This forest is rather new, an information board told me. Until the plague pandemic of the 17th century a lot of farmers lived in this area. The forest was almost completely cleared. The livings were in kind of furrows. The furrows now look like river beds, but aren't. The very few survivors of the plague moved away, often into the villages we see now.
By the way: the leaves are still mostly green. It will take some more days for the beautiful 1000 shades of brown.
