Thanks, Babet

Part of ‘The Policies’ boundary wall collapsed during the night as today’s Blipfoto shows.

In the grand scheme of things it is a minor inconvenience which Pat and I will resolve in the Spring. Also to blame is the tree in the picture. It has weakened the wall with its roots

All of the trees are protected which is fair enough. I will come up with a foundation design to protect and bridge the roots and provide a firm base for the rebuilt wall.

The Met Office Weather App is sending warnings to my iPhone every few minutes. Road closures are also sent frequently.

It is the people living in Angus, and particularly Brechin whose lives are being badly affected today with after effects for the next six months or so.

Flood barriers already 3 metres high have been breached by the river level apparently 2 metres higher.

Another weather warning has just appeared on my iPhone.  It might be an improvement. It might not.  The Fife bank of the River Tay is yellow whereas the Dundee bank is amber. The red warning is further north.

Whatever happens today and tomorrow are days for ‘being in residence’.

Last night Scottish Power notified us of a planned power cut for four hours in the evening. A pole for an electrical line two miles away was to be replaced. In reality the power cut lasted two hours.

Full marks to the engineers who carry out this work in dreadful conditions.
