GOING FOR A . . .
Montague Burton, The Tailor of Taste Ltd . . .
Once as common as Woolworths on the UK High Street, Burton shops specialised in selling ready-made clothing to working men. Sir Montague Maurice Burton was the founder of Burton Menswear, one of Britain's largest chains of clothes shops with over 600 branches. He began making suits in a shop in Chesterfield in 1904. Full family history here. There are still signs of his presence today, as his shops were often of an art-deco design and this distinctive logo can still be seen behind hoardings . . . as in Hull. Better still, look down at pavement level, and there may be metal wrought iron air grills bearing the Burton Logo . . . as in Beverley.
Good news . . . survived the Dentist this morning . . . Bad news . . . back again on Tuesday !
Stay safe from the storms . . .
Hope you all have a grand weekend ahead !
