Birnam oak
Today, we took a drive to pretty Dunkeld and walked along the River Tay to Birnam, passing this oak tree. It is said to be one of the last remaining trees of Birnam Wood, a medieval forest that once grew along the banks of the Tay, and featured in Shakespeare's 'Macbeth'. It was a glorious autumn day - sunny and crisp. Afterwards, we enjoyed a good lunch in the Scottish Larder on the main street. Nice to see the town so busy with visitors from all over the world.
