I dont know what part of “ Road Closed” people don’t understand.
Our village  was cut off today in all directions, possibly ok if you had a 4 wheel drive. However if you go whooshing through a flood feeling invincible in your big 4WD it’s not a good idea to send huge waves over lesser mortals who are then soaked.  We haven’t driven anywhere today but I walked around to see what the roads were like. One little boy with his family was really upset because he couldn’t get home. They were waiting for the AA, who had sent a small van knowing they were the other side of a flood. The driver wouldn’t go through so they had to wait for a bigger truck.
Luckily in our village there are no buildings on flood plains so when the river overflows it spreads across the fields and gradually runs back.
We are due to go to Devon tomorrow . Don’t know if it will be possible.
All this is pretty unimportant when you see the poor folks in parts of Scotland where people have died and houses have been ruined, for them it’s a tragic disaster.
