The Auditorium
As a disclaimer, I have to say that this photo is not representative of the turnout at this talk! There were a few more people there :)
I was in Belfast this afternoon for a talk as part of the Belfast Photo Festival, which to be honest, I didn't even know was on. It's a shame because I love that kind of thing, and I've missed a lot of it! I hope they publicise it a bit better in future. Now that I know it's running I'm going to catch a few exhibitions, but I've missed most of the talks and events. Looking at the program there are a lot of workshops on things like how to use your camera and how to develop film, which I have very little interest in, but I'm sure there were a few interesting things in there too.
Today's talk was really good, it was the Curator of History at the National Museums showing a selection of old photographs from the Ulster Museum's archive. The photos were all documenting Belfast's history, with many as old as the 1870s. It's incredible to see how the city has changed, I always feel sad seeing the beautiful old buildings that we've lost through redevelopment, the Blitz, and the troubles. Thankfully Belfast still has a lot of grand historic buildings, though we're not always so good at looking after them... (for example...)
