Whistling Kite and Pied Oystercatcher
When this Whistling Kite flew over the muddy foreshore at Cooya Beach this morning it caused a bit of consternation among the waders (which included a Far Eastern Curlew). A Pied Oystercatcher had a bit of a go at it, just to prove it wasn't scared.
The Pied Oystecatcher is much like the ones in Europe, but its wing bar (on the upper wing) is only on the secondaries, so it only goes half-way along the wing - unlike ours where the bar is the full length of the wing.
