JJ Saves the Day

Today was our day to leave Florence for Cinque Terre. However, yesterday JJ discovered that today there was a scheduled nationwide train strike. She managed to find a ‘confirmed’ train to La Spezia, near CT, at 6:08 AM!

The connection to CT also arrived on time and we arrived at our destination, Vernazza, much earlier than we originally planned, and out room was ready. The bad news was, it was 113 steps up to the room. (Yes I counted!)

Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t as cooperative. It was threatening and the wind was blowing a gale so the traiks were closed until after 3 PM.

As a consequence we toured three towns, Riomaggiore, Manarola and Vernazza.
