a lifetime burning

I've had to re-write this entry, as since posting it, I've belatedly realised that it is, Blipfoto's 19th anniversary.  What a coincidence that is.  I wasn't here at the beginning, or even in the early years as I didn't join Blip until 1st January 2015.  But it has been a big part of my life ever since, for reasons that I'm sure anyone reading this is likely to share.  Along the way my photography has (I hope) improved, and become more specialised.  But I still get so much out of the challenge to use my camera every day, and I have Blip to thank for that.  So a big thank you to all those folk behind the scenes who do so much to make this possible.

I've no idea what has happened to this Tufted Duck - I'd assumed that it needed a beak repair at some point.  But Joff tells me (below) that this type of beak saddle is used to enable a specific individual to be tracked and more easily recognised for recording purposes.  The Tufted Duck in question seemed to be thriving despite the addition to its beak, so hopefully all is well.

I'm off on a little trip to photograph some wildlife tomorrow and the day after, and I don't think I'm going to have any WiFi with which to upload my blip, in which case I will be back blipping whatever I've managed to see when I get back.
