still waters

I dropped Em off at nursery this morning and took a walk in the cemetery over the road. I've been meaning to explore for some time, it's maple-lined avenues and imposing entry arch inscribed "I am the resurrection" hinting at it's Victorian heritage. Wondering past the plots holding generations of families I couldn't help notice the waning fashions of names: Asa, Simeon, Jedadiah, Frances, Hunter. It's right on the banks of the Mystic River giving it great views of Mystic Seaport Museum and the harbour beyond. A peaceful spot as you'd expect with an unexpected scent of honeysuckle in the still air.
