A Spot of Color

I went to the Hoyt Arboretum in Portland with my dear friend Phil today. We realized that it's been almost a year since we saw each other. We met shortly after I moved to Portland in 2005 and worked together at the same college. Turned out he was my neighbor so we carpooled for years. When I left the college we continued to walk every week for a while, and then less after I moved to westernmost Portland. But it's never been a year! So we're going to fix that. What a joy it was to see him - there's still tons of catching up to do!

There are some leaves turning color in the arboretum, but not a lot. This Japanese Maple stood out amongst the green.
