Light Entertainment
I would like to say today's shot was taken on a trip to a neon light filled metropolis but that just wouldn't be true. It's another emergency blip after I'd even run out of ideas to continue my abstract 'series' of the last few days.
This is actually an image of the first photograph that my brother got printed and framed about 15 years ago. He took this shot outside an amusement arcade on summer's night in Soho in London. He says that Soho has changed so much over the last 15 years with the speed of development and the disappearance of many long established coffee houses, restaurants, pubs, shops and businesses including this amusement arcade.
He remembers one particular Italian coffee house that had stood on the same street corner from the 1940's or 1950's and still had all its original fixtures and fittings but was torn down to make way for an expensive nondescript 'retail development' with absurdly high rents a few years ago, which he says has never been fully occupied since it opened. It is sadly a pattern that he has seen repeated across many different parts of London over the last 20 years.
My brother kindly gave me permission to use his photo for blip purposes but was greatly amused that I'd even managed to chop off the end of the wording on the sign (the missing ment)! :-)
