The mobile beautician
The fallow deer hind sat perfectly still with immense patience while the jackdaw proceeded to groom every part of her head with immense care. Others had several jackdaws sharing the duties and covering the body as well.
I thought that she might have taken offence to the inspection of the eyes, nose and ears, but not a bit of it. Clearly the jackdaw knows its business and causes no damage to the deer in the process and, as a result, is a very welcome visitor.
