Number 77

This afternoon we released our 77th monarch butterfly of the season. Here she is sitting in a tree enjoying the warm sun and the first minutes of her new life as a butterfly. There are still two in Chrysalis which should be ready to go by weeks end, giving us 79 for the summer.
This one, like the past dozen or so before her, have been larger than the early season monarchs which means they are likely migrators, and in for the long haul.

We still have both Swallowtail and gulf Fritillary chrysalis left, most of which will over winter.
