I'm shrinking!
This is the supersized trailer operated by the Future Health research programme that I have signed up for. It was stationed in the car park at the Woking Morrisons store. Future Health is the UK's largest ever health research programme with the aim of discovering new ways to prevent, detect and treat diseases. Having completed a lengthy online questionnaire I was given an appointment at 5.20 where my height and waist circumference were measured, my weight and blood pressure recorded, and blood taken - a finger prick cholesterol test and a sample which will be used to measure biomarkers. I went straight there from a personal training session which I thought might affect my readings but my blood pressure was normal and my cholesterol was fine - so the drugs do work! I was a bit alarmed though to find my height was 5 feet 7.3 inches when I have always given it as 5 feet 8 inches. Am I shrinking with the advancing years or have I always kidded myself I was bang on the average height for a UK male? Anyway, I went straight from the Future Health trailer to Morrisons to get some bananas and other bits requested of me - perhaps eating a few more bananas will get me back to 5.8....
