Coalport Bridge

This is Coalport Bridge over the river Severn. It was originally built in 1780 and called Wood Bridge, as it consisted of two wooden arches on stone piers. It was overshadowed by the creation of the world's first Ironbridge a short distance upstream. The wooden bridge didn't last long, having been washed away, and has been replaced twice, with the most recent cast iron version being constructed back in 1818. Despite Ironbridge's justified claim to fame, no vehicles can now cross it, whereas they can still cross the Coalport Bridge albeit on a single carriageway.
The Blip is taken from the aptly named Woodbridge Inn, where we had a lovely lunch.
