Martillo Island penguins
Today, in addition to a three hour boat ride on the Magellan Strait, where I estimate one million selfies were taken, we went to Martillo Island to see the gentoo and Magellanic penguins, and even one ring-in king penguin. This involved two hours in a bus, ten minutes on a very bumpy boat and one hour on the island. It was very cold at first on the pebbly beach as we watched the gentoo, some holding stones in their breaks, possibly to give to a female they fancy. When we ascended a few metres to see the nesting Magellenics the wind became gale force, the strongest I've ever been in. Then it began to rain ice water as we waited for the boat back. A little later the sun came out and produced a rainbow arching over a filling moon.
It was great to see that boat. Thanks for hosting Bob.
