White Saddle

On the morning spaniel walk I found four or five of these highly contorted White Saddle (Helvella crispa), or 'Elfin White Saddle', fungi. The cap is supposedly 'saddle-shaped' though I've never seen a saddle quite that shape. Admittedly, I've never seen an elf either. The stem is also unique in form, comprising a series of hollow fluted ridges.
