Muddy Melrose

We made a spur of the moment decision to go on the borders railway to Tweedbank this morning. We should have checked the forecast before we left, as it started raining as soon as we got there and has rained all day.
We walked from Tweedbank along the river path to Melrose and then made a beeline for the Kings Arms, where we had an excellent lunch. I popped into a lovely fabric shop afterwards, and then we caught a conveniently passing bus thinking it would go past the station, but we ended up in Galashiels instead. Caught the train back to Edinburgh.
