Determined
Every Night Is Followed By Sunrise
Aside from that Friday morning in March when the wind was howling and the sleet was blinding me this has been my toughest sunrise to date. At least that one wasn't too early whereas today my alarm went off at 4.05am. I'm so tired that it was a real struggle to get up, it had been raining when I went to bed and I couldn't hear any birds singing and I would have given anything to roll over and go back to sleep.
I forced my self out of bed and when I looked out the window I was relieved to see it was at least dry, if cloudy. When I got into position in the Esplanade there was a thick bank of cloud sitting over Helensburgh on the other side so I knew I would be out for a while as I waited for the sun to break through.
Then there were the midges. Lots and lots of annoying little midges! I lost a third of my shots, ruined by midges in front of the lens, little b*****ds! It was a little after 5 when I finally got this shot, it's not perfect, rent-a-gull isn't quite where I would have wanted him but the midges spoiled my better shot.
I thought it would all get better after I reached the milestone of the 21st next week but if I have to contend with midges every week it's going to be a looooong summer!
