Life in Sunny Dubai

Gateway to the World

(28/10/23)

Both our days began early. G went off to school, and I went for a walk with Diane to Al Seef. Rain is forecast for today, but none of us took any precautions when we left home. It spitted on and off, but nothing to worry about. The temperature dropped a bit, but the humidity made up for it.

The workday went well, with plenty to do. I am getting closer to catching up! G returned before lunch with ham and a sourdough loaf from Spinneys, so we enjoyed ham and cheese sandwiches.

Jeff & Margaret had said they wanted to visit Global Village for the last time, so we joined them. The drive there was super-eventful. First, there was a terrific electrical storm with thunder and fork and sheet lightning. The heavens then opened, and we had a deluge. Thankfully, we had managed to avoid the worst of the long queues, but I still had to navigate a highway where you could barely see the lines on the road.

We arrived at Global Village intact. It wasn't raining there much. As the evening went on, it drizzled a bit, but nothing to hinder any plans besides, the temperature was still over 25degC.

We had karak tea followed by a Lebanese meal, then a walkabout checking out the newly created Miniature World (first extra). The big attraction was free access to the mini golf course, but the drizzle and time it takes to do a round made us postpone that to another visit.

G got a super photograph of the shop owner, Serah, in Africa. I didn't notice her sitting there - she blended in so well with the artefacts on sale. Incredibly, she recognised us as regular, returning customers. We went to Turkey (where Jeff tried to buy an ice cream) and Pakistan before heading back to our cars to drive home.

For BCAM, would you please spare a few seconds and click here to help towards free mammograms? Thank you.
PS. We waited for the lights to go pink so this qualified for the BCAM challenge.
