Looking out from the hotel

The Western Isles Hotel in Tobermory. We are here to listen to talk by Isabella Tree about Wilding, the room was packed, apparently all tickets sold out. An accomplished speaker as well as author it was emotional and a pleasure to listen to this woman tell us about the uphill struggle they had to reach a stage where scientists can now come in and test the land and say, look at this, the results are amazing. Sadly her book, ‘The Book about Wilding’ had sold out by the time I reached the book table, I have just ordered a copy on line.

As always with an event there was plenty of chat afterwards, I called into the Co op and met several people who had attended with more applause and six of us met for lunch to talk about the subject.

John was never one for a lawn or neat and tidy garden, his view is to allow cover for birds and insects and since moving here more so and as we age parts of the garden have been left to their own devises. I looked at him at the end of the talk, he had that look that said ‘see, what have I been saying’.

A good few hours spent with friends, of listening and of course, learning.
