Hight tide at sunrise at Burnham Overy Staithe

Thank you so much for all the kind comments and hearts on my young seal yesterday!

Last night we enjoyed the nail biting rugby match between England and Argentina - England won but it was close! It is the end of an era for some of the team as they retire from rugby, but for the youngsters they will have more world cup tournaments to look forward to. We think Ben played so well throughout the tournament and we and those that know him are very proud of his performance. Luke was saying last night how when they played in the same team together at school, Ben was considered too small to play number 8 - well, that is not the case now!

I had a really bad night's sleep (Gavin was restless which kept me awake) so I decided to get up early to photograph the sunrise. It was the last late sunrise as with the clocks going back tonight the sunrises will be earlier from Sunday onwards. At this time of year the sun rises over the land rather than over the water, so I knew I would not see the full sunrise on the water but I hoped for some good reflected light. It was a very high tide due to the full moon, and I enjoyed photographing the boats in the water at Burnham Overy Staithe which is about a 10 minute drive from us. After that I drove to Brancaster Staithe and took a few photos there before going home for a hot shower and breakfast.

After breakfast we drove to Hunstanton to walk along the beach as I wanted to show Gavin the wreck there. Being low tide the wreck was clearly visible, as were these large rocks in the extra.

We had lunch at home - delicious take aways from Thornham Deli - and then Adam arrived just after lunch. It was sunny all afternoon so we went back to Hunstanton to photograph the sunset but it faded to nothing special. 

I have made a lamb curry for supper which we will enjoy before watching the World Cup rugby final, SA vs New Zealand. It should be a cracker of a game with SA currently ranked as the number one rugby team in the world but we all know the skill and prowess of the All Black team! 

News from Meriel in Chad. She is having a real issue with meals as the choice of food there is so limiting,. She sent me a photo of some pineapple she ate - which was the only fruit she could get all week - and it looked fit for the bin. There is a very poor choice of food available to buy and the embassy staff have all lost weight from lack of proper meals. At the same time she is very aware of the poverty there and how so many don't have any food. She visited a refugee camp earlier this week which was heart breaking - refugees from Sudan and as Chad must be one of the poorest countries in the world, you know how desperate they are to escape to Chad.
