Italo Calvino / Marcel Duchamp

A puzzler this one: a wc pan displayed in a flat (apartment) window with a quote and the name Brent written on it. A playful reference to Duchamp's urinal sculpture "Fountain", or something to do with Italo Calvino's post modernist novel, "If on a winter's night a traveller"? Or both. I ain't got a clue. Suggestions welcome.
