The Mist Covered Mountains of Home
We had terrible storms during the night, and it thundered and lightninged and poured like the dickens. It might even have started out as hail or sleet; I heard something that sounded like "more than rain" pinging against the bedroom air conditioner as I tried (in vain) to sleep.
The weather predictions had been dire: intense thunder storms, flooding, big winds, possible tornado outbreaks. But when dawn came, the clouds lifted and the sun started to come out. The mist began to rise off the mountains, and it was just lovely to watch. The mist was almost like a living spirit, moving among the trees. It swirled in and obscured every detail, then it cleared and suddenly the wisps were rising, rising . . .
The soundtrack for this scene: Some Led Zeppelin tunes sprung immediately to mind, but I used those for this misty scene from mid-April. So let me pick something else: Mark Knopfler, The Mist Covered Mountains/Going Home, from the Local Hero movie soundtrack.
