"there is a castle"

A beautiful sunshine bathed Sunday - what better day to take a road trip out to the country roads of Angus to visit this place - Glamis Castle - childhood home of the Queen Mother.

I have been several times to this picturesque place with mum and dad when they come over to visit as dad has a soft spot for the place, but my friend Phil had never been so with none of our friends left in Dundee now, we set off for what turned into a lovely afternoon learning about history, enjoying a little culture and arguing over the location of certain trees depicted in a map of the view in front of us! I blame sunstroke for such behaviour! haha!

Now that I have visited the magic of Ardverkie House (Glenbogle), Glamis reminds me a lot of the 'Big House' - the turrets, the old Scottish stonework, the country estate feeling as you walk around. This place could put a smile on anyone's face - especially when the sun is shining on it and blue skies provide the backdrop.

A little bit of secret agent behaviour found us safely in the gardens area of the house grounds for free for a walk around. We were not paying £6.50 to go for a walk!! It's supposed to be free exercise. Although if caught, we decided to split up to increase our chances of at one of us getting out alive! haha!

Safely out of the estate and after a walk along a river we headed back towards Dundee along those lovely fruit growing lined country roads that over the 4 years of living in Dundee provide me with a sense of calm - it's amazing what open field scenery can do!

I would say long may this lovely summer weather continue now that it has finally arrived but this is the UK - I should know better! :)
