Anatomy Of A Summer Evening

Called in the babysitter so that I could attend a large family gathering (wife is in London). My uncle Niall MacAllister was launching his novel in his old alma mater, The College of Surgeons in Dublin. It all went off very well, a good attendance, many, many relatives, including Jeremy and Jane, two English cousins whom I hadn't seen since traveling to London a few years ago to give a reading, and my lovely cousin C (in blip), the sister of one of my oldest friends, P. Slant was there too of course, taking photographs among other things. Afterward we went to one of the least spoiled Dublin pubs, the pristine Kehoes, though we didn't actually enter it (too crowded) but had our pints on the pavement in the balmy bright evening. Thence to a lovely Italian restaurant on Dawson Street. A large space had been made for us at the back of the restaurant, as if we needed to be segregated from the rest of the diners. Actually it was perfect, and our waiter was very patient and attentive.
