Thankful!

For the past few years, we have lived in absolute dread of wet and cold weather, as everything seemed to leak and our heating was virtually non-existent. It may seem like I’m exaggerating but it was genuinely awful. The walls were so damp that our curtain poles and blinds in several rooms fell down, we had gaps between doors and frames with no way to stop the biting cold coming in, and every day we were braced for another shock disaster.

Thanks to a steady stream of builders, electricians, plumbers and heating engineers over the past few months, I can’t even describe how blissful it is to be warm, dry and to not be living in constant fear.

Unfortunately, not everyone around the world can say that.
